Crisp contest last night at the stadium: time of game, 2:28. <\/p>\n

Few baserunners, three double plays for the visitors, outstanding starting pitching — all the elements were in place for a throwback Jim Kaat-style baseball game. Jim Kaat starts routinely clocked-in under 2 hrs., whether he was throwing for the ChiSox, the Fightin’ Phils or the Jankees, among others. Crazy. Jim Kaat, throwback leftie. Also, what ever happened to Jerry Koosman and Jim Lonborg, not to mention Dick Tidrow and Len Barker?<\/p>\n

Also, none of that video jurisprudence last night, thank Allah; video jurisprudence always makes the game seem like the other nonsense video-jurisprudence stall tactics of ’murrikan Gridiron Throwball and hoopball. Thank you for no video jurisprudence. <\/p>\n

Speaking of further review, the proper calls were made on the longshot race yesterday, including an $80-plus horsey at Indy that the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis had on top. As for the favorite-type races, two out of five, which is not good, but which falls well within the realm of what could be reasonably expected on any given day; also, maybe the off-the-turf washout race at Indy wasn’t the right project to make for a lead-pipe-cinch contest, yeah? Boo!<\/p>\n

Tonight we say the following are fave-worthy: Delta 1, 2. For the potential longshots, seeking Delta 6, Remington 1, 7, 9. <\/p>\n
