Late money is smart money!<\/p><\/div>\n

Hoo-boy. What a race. The Mare could not hold on, so Orange Cap won going away. This was one Longshot that the Old-School Champeens, High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads alike totally missed, no Fair Odds, no LifeLiner, nae nuthin’! Indeed, they pay off at the wire. <\/p>\n

Man, that rigged system was so rigged, it rigged itself back to being unrigged! As well, you lose a billion dollars, but then win the White House — only in America, folks! What a country. (More broadly, how do you lose money running a casino? Not you, personally, but all those shareholders? Steve Wynnstein & Shel. Adelberg have not managed to do that to their backers even after all these many years. Also, how do you lose money selling liquor? Hard to do!) <\/p>\n

Nonetheless, as long as we live and breathe and don’t have to face the censors or fight off the deportation crews or answer to the Cmte. of Pub. Safety with its white bedsheets and torches and pitchforks, we will endure. Gulp. However, we probably are not going to be traveling too far east of Silver Lake for a while. Regrets! But we may end up down south, in the D.F. of Mexico City. Tijuana also is booming, plus we could work hard to bring back jai alai (the best walls!) and promote bullfighting, or start Agua Caliente back up again — there’ll soon be a large pool of repatriated labor to draw from! We may also be called upon to be a token, equal-opportunity hire at the recently reaccredited Trump Univ., the new satellite campus in Encino, in the handicapping dept. You never know!<\/p>\n

In the end, to the President-elect and his many civil and well-heeled supporters (especially a certain fair-minded and magnanimous fellow who goes by the name of ‘Roy Kokinasok’ — look him up, you won’t be disappointed, his words are magic!), good work. You did what you had to, and so you prevailed. Good sports shake hands at the net and smile, no complaints. As Chollie Whittingham put it best, ‘We’ll get ’em in the next town’. Vale!<\/em><\/p>\n
