Sorry for the long delay today — the 18-year-old water-heater decided to call time on its durable, dependable career to the household laundry & bathing needs of the Home Office here in Upper Nichols Canyon, Los Angeles, Southern California, U.S.A. It was an old General Electric that came with a 12-year guarantee, so it outperformed expectations by 150 percent. Vale!
In contrast, ‘the new guy what’s gonna be with us’ (!) is an American Standard good for at least six years on the mfr.’s dime. We shall see!
Anyway, it’s also the spring equinox, the vernal one here in the Northern Hemisphere, and this bit of music in the video lede just sounds better than that old-timey Vivaldi nonsense. Yea, verily, Copland was a Communist, but those guys are just as capable as the reactionaries of making lasting or even eternal art. In fact, if you were so inclined to commission any kind of serious work of art — not bubblegum pop, not lowest-common-denominator shock shlock, you probably would do better to trust a non-right-winger to do the job properly. The reactionaries would be too concerned with the bottom-line, catering to the great unwashed, selling-out.
So, anyway, here’s a later race from Chas. Town this time. Happy springtime!
