Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Truly, it does not feel like Memorial Day this year, what with your Metropolitan Handicap (Met Mile) being pushed back to Belmont Stakes Day. Ah, well. Who will ever forget the great Metropolitan Miles of the past, with that snob Marshall Cassidy introducing the horses over the PA system as they came onto the track for the post parade. What a patrician! He is missed, that snob and his snob voice.

The 1990 Met Mile was that crazy race where Criminal Type outran both Easy Goer and Housebuster. The latter two were taking all the action, and Lukas pulled the upset with his interloper, around 6-1 or so. Good race, close at the finish. Almost as good as the 1987 Haskell with Alysheba, Bet Twice and Lost Code. That era had all the good horseys, like Java Gold and Polish Navy, great names for the horseys, not slick hipster names.

Nevertheless, the greatest Thoroughbred of all time was undoubtedly Frankel. Of that there can be no doubt.

Now to today. Looks good for #2 Gala Award in Bel 4.

Some chance to #5 Sweet Cassiopeia in CD 10.

Back to the Triple Threat Horseys for #7 Summer Hit in GG 7.

Longshot layoff hope for #4 Sundae On Sunday in FL 7.

SA 7 on the free page.

The Ladiez at the LITTLE GARDEN CLUB were more interested in how to eliminate CARPENTER BEEZ from their decks than the HONEYBEE TROUBLE. With CARE PKG. Including an article of what the HONEYMAN may be stickin his NOZE in.
