All right, all right, ya college-hoopsz loversz! Maybe that’s why the Thoroughbred cards are so quiet today. Save the trizactasz for the last-second jumpers from beyond the arc. Pistol Pete Maravich lives forever!

Free ones: Rundown…

Aqueduct 7
Gulf 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10
Santa Anita unplayable

Come on, Hallandale! One time!

Pay-side: Today…

Laurel 3, 5, 8
Fair Grounds 2, 9
Oaklawn 1, 7
Turfway 2, 3

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: One again today at Aqueduct, and again nothing definitive to say about it from this corner.

Yesterday’s Activity: Toastmaster gets home by extending his clean, long neck at the wire to beat the odds-on choice and return $23.80, just a shade under his 12-1 morning-line odds. Yea, verily, it was a contentious race; yea, verily, the three horseys comprising the winning trizacta were your selfsame three lone qualifiers on the LifeLiner: $57 exacta, $215 triactor, both for $2.

Bonkersmate Bluehard, also 12-1 morning line, takes the fourth at Fair Grounds, but at a favored (!) and miserly (!!) $5.80. How is this possible?

Honourable mention in the third at Fair Grounds to Zooey Deschanel hunch play New Girl, runner-up at 15-1 from a 10-1 morning line. Next time!

Interesting third-place finish in the Gulf involving First Bonkersmate Zeffee, 20-1 on the morning line but an astounding 78-1 on the toteboard. Zeffee beat seven others; the winner was the 7-5 morning-line fave and also a LifeLiner qualifier; however, the place-horse was a lost cause. Regretsz!
