Endurance athletes, long-distance runners, take heed! You do know your body is trying to game your system, don’t you? You do know that your body is looking to maximize your efficiency by burning the least amount of energy to produce the greatest amount of work, don’t you? In other words, best wishesz jogging all those miles in an attempt to get super-fit!

Better to do some lifting (read: resistance training) several times a week and throwing in a few all-out HIIT (high-intensity interval training) sprints in-between lift-days. That games your body-system maximally for muscle-build and fat-burn. Plus you get nice boosts of testosterone and HGH, naturally.

Throw in some daily intermittent fasting (or, really, intermittent feeding), watch the sugar intake, get about seven hours of sleep nightly and you’re ready to prosper physically.

Now, about the brain…

Now, about the psyche…

“Psychiatric Help 5¢”

“Oh, Lucy!”

How’s that for a pop-culture mashup?

Free ones: Rundown…

Aqueduct 4, 10
Gulf 1, 5, 6, 9
Santa Anita 4, 8, 9

Pay-side: Today…

Tampa 2, 3, 6
Turfway 8, 9
Fair Grounds 2, 5, 7
Hawthorne 8
Oaklawn 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11
Sam Houston 6, 7, 8, 9

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Free today is SA 8, the Grade II San Luis Rey.

Hou 9, the Car Dealership S., is on the pay-side, as is OP 10, the Grade III Rebel.

It looks too strong for #6 Highestmaintenance in Aqu 9, the Cicada. Ditto #3 Joyful Victory in SA 7, the Grade I Sta. Margarita.

Turf-sprint scramble in FG 6, the Colonel Power, in which we shake things up via #1 Chamberlain Bridge and #5 Comisky’s Humor.

Straight-up Bonkers-type surprise in TuP 5, the Tempe. The contenders appear to be #3 Hard Nine and #10 I Stand Alone. Similarly in the eighth there, the Scottsdale, it’s #12 Oneotwo and #8 Pins (Pins!) Ridge.

Extra for experts occurs in Fon 9, the Orphan Kist, in which the top two morning-line choices look good enough. Regretsz!

Yesterday’s Activity: Wide-open down the hill in Race 7 yesterday at Arcadia, and the results bore that out. Touted Second Bonkersmate Chiloquin, 12-1 on the morning line and 17-1 when the gates opened, finished like the frustrated champion he should have been, $36.20 to the good. First Bonkersmate Basmati, 12-1, just missed for second; however, the interloping place-horse, Sweet Swap, 3½-1 on both the morning line and on the tote board, was of course a LifeLiner qualifier, as were just about all the rest of these evenly matched runners. The exacta, $235 (for $2); the trifecta, $1,878 (for $1); the super-duper, $13,151 (for $1).

Mostly frustration in the Big Night at Sam Houston Race Park & Wash, with only a measly $220-plus exacta to show for it. Tejas!
