The Handy Capper

The Handy Capper is an excellent intermediate handicapping program that gives you the power of many of the same features and benefits found in ALL-IN-ONE: the Betting Line allows you to spot overlays in the win pool, the Track Model lets you cash in on the subtle biases operating at the tracks you play and the included 2010 par times give you the wherewithal to accurately judge shippers, distance switchers and class movers.

The pace times and final times derived from the Track Models are computed using statistical "Best Match" techniques which let YOU decide how "tight" or "loose" the model should be. A tight model gives you the most accurate results, but requires a lot of races in its database. A loose model gives a less detailed result but requires fewer races. Of course, if there isn't enough data to generate a good profile, the pars come into play to ensure you accurately judge shippers, distance switchers and class movers.

How much influence any particular handicapping factor has on the Betting Line can be easily changed using the Handicapping Profile editor. For example, you can tailor the program with a broad designation such as "Turf vs. Dirt," or as specific as "Turf Sprint, non-claiming at Santa Anita." A basic set of profiles derived from years of data from ALL-IN-ONE are included and can be easily duplicated and then customized for other types of races.

When used with the HDW subscription service, The Handy Capper features the automatic entry of past performances and Track Models with the touch of a button.

To start winning with The Handy Capper, all you have to do is pick a past race for each horse. Even if you enter the data manually, you'll be thrilled with The Handy Capper because it only takes a minute per contender for data entry.

Whether you enter the information manually or take advantage of the optional HDW download feature, The Handy Capper's bottom line is the Betting Line. This is the grand summary of all of the factors, weightings and analysis from which you can easily spot horses that are better than the public thinks, find the fair odds and spot overlays. Armed with The Handy Capper's Betting Line, you can easily spot which horses offer excellent "wager value" — in other words, overlays. You'll be assured of betting horses who are paying off at great prices in relation to their odds. You'll instantly spot the winners that should pay $6 but the public is allowing to pay $9, or the winners that should pay $12 that the public is dismissing at $30. The choice is yours: Wheather you prefer scoring with legitimate favorites or logical longshots, The Handy Capper's Betting Line guarantees you'll always be able to spot the best bet for the odds.

Complementing the Betting Line are two additional reports chock full of insightful handicapping information. The first is a Speed/Pace Summary that projects each contender's running times at three points of call for today's race, and how those times compare to the Track Model or par times.

The second is a Factor Summary that rates your contenders from top to bottom on as many as 16 varied factors involving speed, pace, class and form and other handicapping angles; also displayed are your choice of weightings of each factor for this race. A Power Rating neatly sums up the results of those weightings.

The Handy Capper is available on CD-ROM and comes complete with an outstanding user's manual loaded with practical handicapping instruction, plus full tech support.

Runs on Windows, MacOS X and Linux. Minimum screen resolution of 800 by 600 required. Download capability requires connection to the Internet.
