Tuesday Sniping: Signal-to-Noise Ratio Edition

Hey! How ya’ been? Remember way back when when the hi-fi systems had components, one of ’em being the tuner, and you could feel through the gyroscopic knob or wheel the sweetspot for the FM station you were trying to pull in? It was like a golfer reading a putt just-so, finagling the club and waggling back-and-forth to get it exactly right, or else a goalkeeper in fútbol trying to align the wall in front of him before a free-kick. Or something like that.

Thanks for your patience. As you can tell, we have been taking a lot of mental-health days lately; thank Allah we have that option in the first place, and so Yahweh will allow us to expend our stockpile, and Buddha will not judge. The end is nigh. We’ll be back to our usual even-more-unhinged selves soon enough. Patience.

You got to bee Kiddin–I have one of the Marantz tuners in a storage trailer. I think almost exactly–wow!– man that was when I was headed for trubble and my cohort left me in the cold–thank Allah or who ever—-How much nectar do you want?–In about 2 weeks I will have loads. really, let me know.. I gave a guy named Steve a $19.00 winner in Keenelands last race wed. he may come snoopin around.

Bless you. ’grats on the tuner. However, for the big eBay money, dig-up the amplifier. 100 watts per channel, the ballsy-yet-clean sound powered by vacuum tubes, not transistors. If you still have the distinctive Marantz amplifier, with the glowing blue light on the front panel, the unmistakable and secure click on power-up, that’s the big eBay money right there. Miss ya! We will barter, software for honey, a most fair trade. Now, do you know anyone who will swap software for psychiatric services? Tyvm.
